“Classic” is the quintessence of a relatable, known experience. Like, you know that guy who asks you for money that one time? Yeah, guess what, he came to ask for money a second time. That's a classic. We all know this kind of experience, either first hand or from the retellings of someone else.
As this, a lot of things are classics. Drunk person you haven't talked to in months gets all sentimental in the middle of the night via text? Classic. Someone is all excited about a new hobby and a week later they don't even talk about it anymore? Classic. Someone gets all political on thanksgiving and causes drama for the whole family? Classic. If it's a kind of story you could feasibly stumble over in the wild, it's a classic.
